"Thank you guys so much for buying me this chair. It's the BEST!"

Rufus has no idea that Desmond is coming. He will freak out when he finds that his new chair has been usurped by something that's not even a dog.

Pizza in New York?

Ok, it's not traditional New York pizza, but everyone says it's pretty fucking good. And, apparently, the chef is somewhat famous for his Sullivan St. Bakery. One would assume that if you can bake a perfect loaf, you can make a pretty darn good crust. So, next time I'm in NYC, Co. here I come.

Cali

This looks like exactly the kind of place I like.

Miami Cont.

Miami restaurants seem uptight and overpriced to me in a way that no other city's eateries can manage. Maybe it's just South Beach (the extent of my Miami exploration), but they seem constantly aware of exactly how chic and modern they are and hope you to be. Anyway, I absolutely have not ventured that far south often enough to form an official opinion, and these places look pretty darn good, even if they do seem to know it.

Is it called Michael's Genuine Food and Drink or The Experience? Who can say? The former, I hope.

Fratelli Lyon Driade... how are you supposed to know it's a restaurant?

And the rest

Here are the remaining Bon Appetit chili restaurant recommendations:

Joe Rogers' Original Recipe Chile Parlor in Springfield, IL

Chili My Soul in Encino, CA

Slim's Last Chance in Seattle

Daisy May's BBQ USA in New York

Camp Washington Chili in Cincinnati (pictured)

Ah, of course

James and I first learned about Ben's Chili Bowl on No Reservations and it's been a kind of obsession ever since. James, of course, was had at hot dogs and chili. I'm intrigued because the half smokes, their most popular sausage, look like something I might actually eat, unlike a regular hot dog.

Also, this place is totally famous. Like famous famous. And, somehow, none of the several people we know who live in D.C. have ever even heard of it. What is wrong with people? I'm thinking of booking a flight just to try it. I can't imagine how fast we would have been there were it right around the corner.

Giorgio's

There will be so many for New York...

This is from Giorgio's of Gramercy... Carmalized Sea Scallops with Cauliflower puree.

Bienvenido

Also sans website this month are a few of the Miami restaurants featured. I actually don't know whether we're more likely to make it to Miami or Santa Fe first.

Sra. Martinez
Spanish food and tapas by Michelle Bernstein! I would love to go to one of her restaurants.
4000 NE 2nd Ave
305 573 5474

Red Light
All plates under $20 in a diner-like atmosphere. Wish I could see a menu to determine if there are non-seafood options.

Chili Time

Bon Appetit this month had a feature on the best places to get chili. Since both James and I are fans, I wast to keep track of the ones that look particularly good. Since it doesn't have a website, I'll start with Tomasita's in Santa Fe, so that I can go ahead and throw away the magazine.

BA says:
"This is one of the best places to try stew-like New Mexican green chili (named after its green Hatch chiles), filled with your choice of pinto beans, posole, beef, chicken, or cheese. A crispy sopaipilla (puffy fry bread) comes on the side."

P.S. Posole is gross.

Knife Set Lust

This is the first set that I think I really want. This guy recommended Calphalon Katanas, which are much cheaper, but upon further investigation, these seem much better and are available for $499 at Amazon. Think James will spring for that?

I also like this one.

Osteria Mozza

I would like to eat here now.

One of my reasons for starting a blog was to keep track of all the restaurants and interesting things I read about in other cities. Whenever we're going somewhere I think, "Great! I've read so much about where to eat there." But since I don't keep these things anywhere, we end up at whatever we happen upon and then I'm annoyed.

So the first place I'll mention is Osteria Mozza. There was an article in the March Food & Wine about the head chef there, Matt Molina, and his month-long trip to Italy. The menu looks amazing and I've never been anywhere with a mozzarella bar.

It's unfortunate that this place is in L.A., which is probably close to last on my desirable destination list, but I know James will be happy to hop a flight at a moment's notice.

I really feel that I've seen all I need to see of L.A., since I went on the Great Movie Ride at MGM Studios when I was 10. There are beaches and palm trees here.
